From Ink to Insects: The Story Behind The Cursed Raven
What started with ink transformed into wings.
Before I began pinning beetles and framing butterflies, I was a tattoo artist—driven by a love of detail, precision, and the beauty of the unconventional. The same instinct that drew me to skin as a canvas eventually pulled me toward something entirely different: insects.
It began with a single specimen, found at a market and too beautiful to ignore. I started collecting out of curiosity… but it quickly spiraled into obsession. The symmetry of wings, the iridescence of beetle shells, the silent elegance of pinned forms—they fascinated me. I dove headfirst into entomology, preservation techniques, and antique framing methods. I discovered a world that was as artistic as it was scientific.
Now, I create and curate pieces that live at the intersection of nature, art, and curiosity: hand-pinned insects in vintage frames with unique dried florals, sticker sets inspired by tattooing, embroidered patches made for the spooky at heart, and pins that celebrate the beautiful and bizarre. Art has always been my passion. I love creating, whether it’s designing for and tattooing skin, making a cool sticker or upcycling an antique. The Cursed Raven, sister to my tattoo shop Black Lotus Tattoo, is a combination of all my passions and creations into one.
Each piece is designed to celebrate the strange elegance of the natural world—and to bring a little wonder into yours.
